DESCRIPTION & COMPOSITION

The Hubertushoeve is one of the oldest renovated buildings in the village of Ohé en Laak. In conjunction with the stronghold of Stevensweert it forms the “Island in the Maas River” (Eiland in de Maas). Neighbouring towns include Maasbracht (the largest Dutch inland harbour), Echt and Maaseik (Belgium). It is just a short trip to Belgium via the Maas ferry (for pedestrians and cyclists only). The Island in the Maas is formed by the river’s currents and large scale gravel excavation creating expansive lakes and is thus one of the Netherlands largest water recreation areas. You can explore the area by following one of the many cycling trails which takes you through southern Limburg (NL), Belgium and Germany. Closer to home you may spend time swimming or basking on the Maas beach (Maasterp), or fishing anywhere along the river.

<p>An outer building of the Hubertushoeve has been transformed into a luxurious holiday house and is suitable for a maximum of 5 persons and a child who sleeps in a child bed. The total (living) area of this bungalow is approximately 125m². The downstairs entrance leads to a large open kitchen with cooking island, fridge and combi microwave, shower and separate toilet. The first floor contains a bathroom with a bath and toilet, 2 luxury double bedrooms and a cozy single room. Within the picturesque gardens you’ll find an in ground swimming pool, sauna and a sun bed. Pets are welcome provided they can get along with the owners cat and dog. In the pantry you will find a fridge. The living room is provided with a coulour TV with remote control,chimney, dining and sitting are with leather couches. There are 3 colour TV's in the accomodation. On the ground floor you will also find a shower and seperate toilet. On the floor there is a bathroom with bath and toilet, a pantry and 3 bedrooms. Duvets, pillows and bedlinen is present. In the spacious garden of approximately 1000 m2 you will find a swimming pool and a large terrace with ample garden furniture. You can use the sauna. In case there is insufficient sunshine, you can use the solarium.</p>

CADRE DU LOGEMENT ET ACTIVITÉS

Whether you wold like to relax or prefer to be active, there’s something here for everyone.On hot days it’s just a 700m walk to The Maasterp, one of the river’s beaches. Apart from safe swimming, wind surfing and fishing it’s also a great place to go for a walk and explore the river while looking at Belgium on the opposite bank. There’s a café with a playground and just 1 km away you'll find a pub and a restaurant.A great way to explore the surroundings is on your bike, as just a stones throw away is Limburg’s highest mill (the Hompesche Molen), and a little further away you will find Stevensweert, a charming small city. From here move on to Maasbracht along the canal, which has 15 meter high locks and the largest inland Dutch harbour. Then go on to Wessem and Thorn (the White City). Here you will cross the Belgian border to Kinrooi. If you’re tired you can return home to Ohe en Laak by ferry, or continue on to Maaseik where you can relax at one of the many restaurants and cafés in the city's square. Cross the bridge to The Netherlands from where it’s just a 7.5km bike ride back to Ohe en Laak. And this is just one of the many bike routes in the area.If you wish to cover larger distances, take the car and drive via Maaseik in the direction of Genk (B). Onwards from Genk you will find the “Queen of the South”, and you won’t believe your eyes! Whether you're looking to move to a castle or acquire an authentic red phone box, in this antique shop anything is possible! Have a drink in the restaurant but don't forget to look in the bathroom- it’s worth it…! Prefer mountains? Go south…See where The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany come together or travel further south to the Belgian Ardennes. Düsseldorf, Aachen and Köln in Germany are also near enough and definitely worth a visit.If you don’t want to go that far but still want to have a taste of the world, go and see Mondo Verde World Gardens in Kerkrade.You can take cruises from Stevensweert, Ophoven (B) and Maastricht and there’s the circle cruise (Rondje met het Pontje) which takes you along different villages on the Maas. The cruise from Maastricht to Liege (B) over the canals and past the different locks with a total height difference of 45 meters is impressive, to say the least… Entertaining the kids? Easy. Go to Kinderstad (Kid City), a huge playground in Heerlen or to the Castle Gardens in Arcen. Or play mini golf or skittles in Stevensweert. Of course the ultimate for big and small is to go to the “Gaia Park Kerkrade Zoo.Fed up with all this summer fun? Try Snow World in Landgraaf.
